Tension between the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union, ICU and the Ghana Trades Union Congress, TUCG has reignited over TUC’s decision to eject the ICU from the Hall of Trade Unions in Accra for renovation works.

Since 2005, when the ICU broke away from the TUC, relationship between the two Labour Unions have remained frosty with the ICU resisting what it says are covert attempts at throwing them out of the edifice.

ICU has continuously insisted that it will not move from the building and see the temporary quit notice by the TUC as a ploy to permanently dislodge it from the TUC Hall; an edifice the ICU said was bequeathed to the Unions by the first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Addressing Journalists and ICU members in a charged atmosphere at TUC Headquarters, ICU General Secretary, Solomon Kotei said the Union is prepared to up its resistance to move from the TUC Hall with all its might and resources, including a court battle with the TUC.
