The 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the sitting vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has hinted that the Akufo-Addo led government will work hand in hand with the 8th parliament to ensure the passage of the Broadcasting Bill before the house dissolves.

Speaking during an encounter with the media on Sunday, August 25, 2024, the 2024 NPP Presidential candidate assured journalists that the government is committed to ensuring the bill’s passage before the last sitting of Parliament.

“In line with our philosophy and reaffirming our commitment to upholding the fundamental rights to free speech and media freedoms and expanding the frontiers of individual rights, we will pass and fully implement the Broadcasting Bill before the final session of Parliament this year to better safeguard media freedoms and pluralism.

We will further resource the Media Capacity Enhancement Programme to continue enhancing the knowledge and skills of journalists,” Dr Bawumia reiterated.
