A Member of the E-Levy Technical Committee, of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Nana Poku has called on the public to contact the charging entities for a refund when there is a double charge on their transactions.
According to him, “Momo customers will be charged when they transfer cash from ie: one MTN Account to a Vodafone account even though both accounts belong to the same person. You will be charged when you transfer cash from the MTN Momo account to your Vodafone cash account”, he reiterated.
The Member of the E-Levy Technical Committee, GRA, speaking via zoom interview on the GTV’s Breakfast Show on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, explained that the Authority is currently using the “phased approach” for the implementation of the Levy from the 1st of May 2022
“With the phased approach, a charging entity A will not readily be able to identify an account belonging to the same person from charging entity B. So all one needs to do is to call for a refund by way of providing a transaction ID, date, time, account name, and a national ID (Ghana Card). The charging entities will go through and when satisfied will affect the refund”, Nana Poku noted.
