Some customers of the Electricity Company of Ghana, ECG have for the past three days, been combing parts of Accra in search of power but to no avail. They expressed their fears that the crisis experienced two months ago where ECG could not sell power to consumers is back.
The problem, customers believe was not solved completely and it’s even worse now. Both the third-party vendors and ECG blame the problem on the system being down.
Some customers at the ECG Office at Legon who spoke to GBC News complained that food items in their refrigerators are going bad, describing the situation as “unbearable”, considering the current economic challenges.
A customer who wanted to remain anonymous complained of how he has been waiting for his turn to purchase the prepaid since morning 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday 12th November and had not been attended to.
“I think this is not fair and the people in charge are to be held responsible for whatever is happening ”.
Another customer who is in the same situation sent a plea to those in charge to sit up and do the work diligently. He also explained the situation he is facing at home that he could not preserve his food, because there was no power adding that everything he has preserved had gone bad.
Meanwhile, residents in the Western part of Accra including Dansoman also experienced similar problems. The ECG Office at Sahara in Dansoman also had a system failure with a crowd of people waiting with the hope to get attended to.
