Government forecasts Ghana’s economy to rebound from the covid-19 pandemic faster than expected, on the back of increasing business and consumer confidence.

The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta is confident the economy will end the year at 2 percent of GDP, on the hills of policy interventions and business support programmes rolled out to ensure rapid private sector recovery.

Speaking at ongoing 9th Ghana Economic Forum in Accra, Mr. Ofori-Atta said the 100 billion-cedi CARES programme will accelerate the country’s economic recovery and reposition the private sector to be competitive on the African market.

Economist at the University of Ghana Business School, Prof. Godfred Bokpin said the success of government’s effort to reviving the economy hinges on the inclusiveness of the measures adopted.
