Exhibitors at the 24th International Trade Fair in Tamale have expressed disappointment at the level of patronage at the fair.
The exhibitors believe publicity is very low and the public is not aware of the fair. There are fears that exhibitors may incur losses if things do not improve in the coming days.
The exhibitors disclosed that they paid between ¢1,000.00 and ¢1,500.00 for space and stands.
There are exhibitors from Burkina Faso, Benin, Togo, Madagascar and India. They complained about the cost of traveling and shipping of their products.
They have therefore appealed to the organisers to step up publicity to boost patronage.
At the fair, most exhibition stands were empty, while others were seen dismantling their stands.
A few patrons were seen window-shopping but expressed worry over the high cost of products on display.
The 24th International Trade Fair is organised by the Ghana International Trade Fair Authority.
According to the CEO, Dr. Agnes Aidoo, this is the second time the event is coming to Tamale after a successful fair in 2016.
This year’s fair is under the theme: “Value Addition, Trading Globally.”
It aims at providing a platform for sale of Ghanaian products and creating the opportunity for networking with international counterparts.
