Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to appear before Ad-hoc Committee

Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, is expected to appear before the eight-member Ad-hoc committee of Parliament probing a Censure motion against him.

Leader of the Minority in Parliament Haruna Iddrisu filed a motion for a vote of Censure against Ken Ofori-Atta making allegations against the Minister, including Conflict of Interest, Financial Mismanagement leading to the ailing depreciation of Cedi and gross negligence of the economy.

After the first day of the hearing, where the Minority leader explained the basis for the Censure, the Counsel for the Finance Minister, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, told the Committee that his client will be ready with the responses today.

The Committee was set up by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, on November 10 to probe the motion which was filed by the Minority Leader.

The Committee on the first sitting heard from the Minority, represented by the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu and, Minority Spokesperson on Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, who are the proponents of the motion which was followed by the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) appearing before the Committee on the first sitting.
