A former Mayor of Accra, Dr. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, who is also the current Honorable Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ablekuma South constituency in the Greater Accra Region has opened the Korle Bu branch of ‘Friendly Shopping Mall’.
He said that the opening of the Korle Bu branch of ‘Friendly Shopping Mall’ will help de-congest the Central Business District (CBD) of Accra.
Speaking to Journalists after the opening of the second branch of ‘Friendly’ adjacent the Bukom Arena on the Korle Bu Mortuary Road in Accra, Dr. Vanderpuije noted among others that “It is always an avenue for development when businesses open in a community so, this is no different, I see this as an opportunity to grow Ablekuma South and adjoining areas”.
According to him, this is going to create an opportunity for the people in the area to have one-stop shop for all they need. He appealed to the management of the mall to consider employing more people in the Ablekuma South Constituency.
He also emphasized that, the location of the Mall will add up to the expansion of the Central Business District as people will no longer struggle through both human and vehicular traffic to the Makola area to purchase consumables, furniture and home appliances.
In his welcome address, the Operations Manager of the facility, Obed Okai Agyapong, said ‘Friendly’ is a one-stop shop for all that one may need at home, office and that they have come to “build a community of friendship not just buyers”.
Friendly has a workforce of about 220 people.
