Former Finance Minister, Seth Terkper, says Government must present the true deficit in the country’s budget. In his comments on tomorrow’s mid-year budget review to Parliament, he said the expectation is for the Minister of Finance to present to Parliament, the right figures.
He told Radio Ghana’s Augustus Acquaye that Government spending has gone beyond the COVID-19 expenditure. Mr. Terkper noted that government will need to reconcile its fiscal data with data from International partners like IMF.
Mr. Terkper said the manner in which the country’s deficit rise is calculated is dangerous.
He appealed to academics and technocrats to review the Minister’s presentation professionally so as to make Ghanaians well informed on the realities on the ground.
