Government states its position on MenzGold saga

Following the brouhaha and news surrounding embattled CEO of MenzGold, the Government of Ghana has in a statement document detailing its position on the saga.

The statement signed by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, reiterates the fact that the regulators of the nation’s financial services sector, namely Bank of Ghana, (BoG) and Securities Exchange Commission, (SEC) had on numerous occasions over the years warned customers of MenzGold to desist from investing monies into the company.

The statement said while government sympathies with customers, on the difficulties they faced in their transaction with the company, the state cannot and will not resort to the use of the tax payers’ funds to pay the customers.

The government has assured customers of its committed efforts to find the accused persons, investigate the allegations and ensure that the law takes its course,
