Government has announced plans to lease the Komenda Sugar Development Company Limited to West African Agro Limited, an India-based firm, for a renewable term of 15 to 20 years.
This strategic partnership aims to revitalise the Komenda Sugar Factory’s operations, ensuring it can meet the growing domestic demand for sugar.
The Minister for Trade and Industry, K. T. Hammond, shared this development during a facility visit to the factory in the Central Region.
He said the initiative is part of broader efforts to boost the local sugar industry, reduce imports, and create jobs in the region.
