The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has promised to rationalise fees at the ports and scrap needless charges that affect importers to ease the financial hurdles importers go through.

In addition to that, the former President says the ports will work 24/7, including weekends and holidays.

Next NDC government will also put an end to illegal and excessive shipping fees to reduce business costs at the ports and establish the Annual presidential-CEO dialogue.

Mr, Mahama emphasised that he will lead an Accelerated Export Development Council to expand exports and leverage market access opportunities.

“We will seek to help Ghana benefit more from its finite natural resources and encourage Indigenous Ghanaian businesses with the technology and capacity to operate their own productive mining concessions independently or in partnership.”

“We will also resource the geological survey department and review the laws governing the extractive industry so that Ghana can increase its share and local participation in the exploitation of the nation’s natural resources.”

Mr. Mahama also stressed that the NDC will establish a western industrial enclave to expand industries in the Western Enclave for job creation.

“Again, it(the NDC) shall implement a fixed-rate system for imported spare parts to ensure transparency in the charges on imported goods.”
