The government of Ghana is expecting to conclude a deal with Japanese car maker Nissan Motor Co. Ltd to establish an assembling plant in Ghana.
According to the Minister for Trade and industry, Alan Kyerematen, the country’s zeal to play a significant role in the automotive industry has attracted several offers from players in the industry across the world.
Mr Kyeremanteng disclosed this at the Ghana Industrial Summit and Exhibition organized by the Association of Ghana Industries(AGI). To him, many agreements have been reached and will soon have Nissan in the country.
Mr Kyeremanteng added that major companies are putting in pressure for government to get started .”Nissan is far advanced in terms of discussions” the trade minister stated. He added that , these are all opportunities for the private sector to engage with potential investors and it is the Ministry’s hope that they will find partners to grow the sector.
He, then, took the opportunity to invite more private sector players to come and support the government in making Ghana an industrialized country.
