Out of 2,388 sampled gazetted vehicles with the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, 1,719 auctioned vehicles estimated at GHC 25.5 million.
This was contained in the report of the Auditor-General for the Ministries, Departments and Agencies for 2018.
Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, the Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Colonel Kwadwo Damoah said the situation was created due to the manual processes involved at the time.
He said following the audit, all but 97 vehicles have been cleared.
Colonel Damoah further shed some light on the confistication of imported vehicles, indicating that a lot of procedures are followed.
