A Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BOG), Mrs. Elsie Addo Awadzie says being a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a bank is not an issue of prestige but rather that of a huge responsible.

Speaking as the guest at ARB Apex Bank 21st CEO’s Conference in Ho, Mrs. Awadzie said the complaints received by the Central Bank on monthly basis of unprofessional conduct of some CEO’s do not speak well of a sector mandated to change the country’s financial landscape.

She said several rural banks are yet to comply with the BOG’s 2021 corporate governance directives. This, she said, affects negatively the performance of rural banks.

Mrs. Addo Awadzie urged the banks to put in practical data protection protocols to check banking fraud both within and outside which is currently on the rise.

Managing Director of ARB Apex Bank, Alex Kwesi Awuah said the conference is “critical at a time the country’s economy is struggling and that is why the four days will look at areas that will properly position rural banks to do better”.

”Repositioning Rural banks at the center of financial services delivery in Ghana, the role of stakeholders”, is the theme for this year’s ARB Apex bank CEO’s conference.
