UK Deputy Prime Minister, Angela Rayner has expressed her commitment to enhancing the bilateral relationship between the UK and Ghana during her recent visit to Ghana on February 21, 2025 particularly, in fostering a 24-hour economy.
In her address, she stated, “It’s an absolute honour and privilege to be here, and I am inspired by your election victory centered around the 24- hour economy. We share a mutual aspiration for both our economies.”
The UK Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the importance of collaboration, noting that she had witnessed the enthusiasm of local entrepreneurs eager to create jobs and expand their businesses.
She emphasized the UK government’s alignment with Ghana’s growth objectives, stating, “The fact that the UK government is aligned on growth and your government is focused on jobs for the people is exactly what we are trying to achieve”.
She reiterated that both nations have a shared goal of improving living standards for their citizens. “We want to ensure that people on the ground see tangible benefits and can secure jobs that fulfill their family life,” she added, reinforcing her dedication to supporting Ghana’s economic development.
The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed optimism about deepening the existing relationship between the two countries. “I’m looking forward to deepening the relationship that both our countries have had through your government and the UK government,” Rayner remarked.
This commitment comes at a crucial time as both nations seek to enhance trade and investment opportunities.
Angela Rayner’s visit underscores a renewed focus on mutual economic growth and collaboration. As she stated, “Our supporting your endeavors is a long history of what we’re going to continue to do, and I believe we can achieve great things together”.
This sentiment reflects a strong foundation for future partnerships aimed at benefiting both Ghanaian and British citizens alike.
