Adding value to its operations to remain competitive and relevant as the energy sector evolves, the Volta River Authority, VRA has launched a Creativity and Innovation Day.
It is an initiative to employ technology and innovation to resolve emerging challenges in the industry. The launch is part of VRA’s 61st Anniversary celebration.
The massive technology transformation in the energy sector is set to alter the conventional energy supply channels.
The new technology is presenting viable solutions with the capacity to maximize the use of natural sources, rather than traditional fossil fuels.
Speaking at the launch of the Creativity and Innovation Day, the Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority, VRA Mr. Emmanuel Antwi-Darkwa drew attention to the need to adapt quickly to the global energy trends in order to stay competitive.
“The world of today is not the same as the world of 60 years ago. There are a lot of changes in the world, especially in the energy industry. A lot of things are evolving and our sector in Ghana is also adapting in response to what’s happening in the world. Our objective as an institution is to modernize our operations so that we are not different from the big boys in the sector throughout the world.” Mr. Antwi- Darkwah intimated.
The Principal Water Resources and Generation Planning Engineer, Mr. Philip Padi who is also a member of the steering committee of the creativity and innovation programme said the move will help redefine VRA’s operations to remain the market leader.
“We have just launched the initiative activity and everybody in VRA will be reached with this idea so that we do things differently. Our top management is so committed to making sure that we work differently, so that going forward we are able to do our things diligently, efficiently, and smarter.” He added.
A 12-member committee has been inaugurated to oversee activities to support the sustained Celebration of the Creativity and Innovation Day as part of the VRA Day every year.
