President John Mahama has appointed Dr. Zakari Mumuni as the First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
His appointment is awaiting approval from the Council of State.
Dr. Mumuni has over 20 years of experience in banking, financial markets, and economic policy. He currently serves as the Director of the Financial Markets Department at the Bank of Ghana and is a member of the Monetary Policy Committee.
If confirmed, he will help lead Ghana’s financial sector, especially during challenging economic times. His background includes roles in research, economic forecasting, and policy planning. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Nottingham and an MPhil from the University of Ghana.
Dr. Mumuni’s appointment comes at a crucial time, as Ghana’s economy faces difficulties. Experts believe his leadership will bring stability and fresh reforms to the banking system.
