Government says it will this week make public, its findings after probing into the controversial Power Distribution Service, (PDS) deal which which reports say was full of anomalies.

The Minister of Energy, John Peter Amewu said the government will “come out with credible evidence” and bring closure to the brouhaha surrounding the PDS concession agreement with Electricity Company of Ghana.

Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah last August told journalists that the probe would take 30 days.

However, government was yet to make any disclosure on its findings, a month after its own deadline.

However, the Energy Minister disagrees that government has delayed in making findings of  its investigations public.

Government announced the suspension of the concession agreement with PDS on Tuesday, July 30, over the management of the assets of the state’s major electricity distribution firm, ECG.

It cited anomalies with the demand guarantees given by PDS and assured that further investigations will be conducted.

But the Energy Minister was certain finality will be brought on the deal before November 2019.

He said a team has already visited the Philippines on a fact finding mission, and another was in US.

The minister said the government is waiting to put together what were discovered on the various missions “before we take a very solid decision.

A delegation was dispatched to Qatar and the United States as part of investigations into the deal.

Meanwhile, Mr. Amewu questioned the readiness of the opposition National Democratic Congress to form government after it raised issues regarding a supposed 30% shares of Meralco it alleged have haven been offloaded to Meridian Power Ventures.

He has vehemently denied that claims, and rejected the position that the NDC was concerned about the PDS deal.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) last week accused the government of ceding the shares to the new owners without approval from Parliament and the knowledge of Ghanaians.

Addressing the press, the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Aseidu Nketiah said the party unearthed this new deal between the government and the company from Hong Kong after sighting a letter written by Meridian Power Ventures to the Chairperson of the Millennium Development Authority( MiDA), Professor Yaa Ntiamoah Baidoo for a special board meeting.

But the Minister for Energy, John Peter Amewu dismissed the claims that the government has handed over thirty percent shares in the power distribution industry to a new company.
