Lawyers for Gregory Afoko say he has not yet been informed about the bail granted to him by the Accra High Court.
His legal counsel, Nana Yaw Osei, revealed that Afoko, who is being held at Nsawam Prisons, has not received details of the court’s decision.
Speaking in an interview with Channel One News, Osei said they plan to communicate the news to him in the coming days.
The Accra High Court granted Afoko bail on Friday, February 21, after nearly ten years in custody. He was accused of the 2015 murder of Adams Mahama, the former Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). His bail was set at GH¢500,000 with two sureties.
Afoko’s legal team had applied for bail on February 17, marking his third attempt since the trial began.
“Gregory was not in court when the bail was granted. He is in Nsawam Prisons, so we couldn’t inform him immediately,” Osei explained. “We will visit him soon and update him on what has happened”.
