Police CID Investigates Mysterious Death Of Level 400 Female KNUST Student

The Criminal Investigations Department of the Ashanti regional police, in collaboration with the internal security service of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST, has begun investigation to establish all the actual circumstances surrounding the death of a level 400 female student of the University whose body was found this morning on the Campus.

A statement signed and issued to the media in Kumasi by the Deputy Registrar in charge of the University’s Relations Office, Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, noted that, following a distress report, the internal security operatives, at about 5 am today, Thursday February 27, 2025, collected a lifeless body of one of its students identified as Level 400 Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science student, Joana Deladem Yabani, near the Disability and Rehabilitation Centre of the University and sent to the KNUST Hospital where she was confirmed dead.

According to the Statement, the University’s Management is committed to ensuring that all necessary measures are taken to ascertain the facts involved in the student’s death. Already, the incident has been reported to the bereaved family according to tradition.

It assured the university’s community and all other stakeholders that the University is unwavering in its commitment to the safety and well-being of all of its students and staff and is therefore asking for calm and avoidance of the spreading of unverified information in the circumstance.

The Statement further pleaded with members of the university community or public to report any information relating to the mysterious death of the student to a staff of the University Relations Office, Anita Akua Kyerewaa Kuma on 0 2 6 7 6 7 6 2 1 4 or 0 5 5 5 3 6 5 5 8 7 0 for swift action to be taken where appropriate.
