Trade and Industry Minister, KT Hammond, has described as troubling the decision by Cement Producers and Importers to increase prices.
He says the development is a conspiracy of a cabal of cement producers and importers, which should be condemned. The Minister noted that the government has provided the necessary enabling environment for cement producers to thrive, as such, the recent upward review of prices has no basis.
He wondered why the producers would increase prices when the government has provided a conducive environment for them to operate.
“The government has provided the necessary ambience and regulatory framework as well as the proper environment for these companies to operate and do their businesses profitably”, he said.
Mr. Hammond said he expect cement producers to make profits, and not take Ghanaians for granted because the commodity is in high demand.
