Dormaa East records 22 cases of covid-19

The Dormaa East District of the Bono Region has gone from 0 to 22 Covid-19 confirmed cases.

According to the District Chief Executive, Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Agyeman, the confirmed cases came out of 203 samples tested for the virus out of 100 results received so far. Mr Agyeman stressed that the district has initialised contact tracing and more suspected samples have been sent for testing.

The Dormaa East District was until now, one of three out of the 12 districts and municipalities in the Bono region without a confirmed cases of covid-19, with the others being namely Dormaa West and Tain districts. In Just over a week, the Bono Region’s cases have jumped to 266, with the Dormaa East District joining the fray.

The Victims are said to be showing mild symptoms and responding to treatment.

In an interview, the DCE for Dormaa East, Emmanuel Kofi Agyeman, said they have put measures in place to stop the spread of the virus in the district and entreated residents to adhere to the covid-19 safety protocols.

The District Director of Health Services, Mrs Esther Konadu Prempeh for her part disclosed that 120 samples have been sent for testing as result of contact tracing. She said the affected 22 persons are self-isolating.

The District Police Commander, DSP F.A Asante said they are going to intensify checks in the district to ensure people to adhere to the safety protocols of covid-19 especially on the wearing of face Masks.
