Ghana’s Electoral Commission, (EC), says allegations made by the opposition National Democratic Congress, (NDC), is a calculated and targeted attempt at creating an erroneous impression about the EC and causing disaffection between its leadership and the public.

This was in a statement issued by the Commission’s acting Director of Communications, Mrs. Slyvia Annor on Thursday, September 19, 2019 and copied to gbcghanaonline

The NDC at a press briefing addressed the National Chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, made series of allegations against the EC.

He mentioned the failure of the Commission to provide the party with provisional electoral register a day to the end of the ongoing exhibition of voters’ register, which according to him flouts the law.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo further alleged the Electoral Commission has, however, provided the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) a copy of the electoral roll.

The NDC Chairman also alleged that the EC was scheming to disrupt the next general elections and give the incumbent NPP an advantage in the next elections.

However, the EC said it is unfortunate that the NDC continues to use the media to raise its concerns which can easily be resolved by deliberations with the EC.
