Teachers and Students of Osu Home Junior High School (JHS) have been left stranded following a disconnection of power supply to the school by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) on Tuesday 9th July 2024.

According to sources, the power cut which plunged the school into total darkness and discomfort was due to the school owing ECG for power supply.

The students were writing Information, Communication and Technology (I.C.T) on day 2 of the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) when officials from ECG trooped into the school and cut power feeding the classroom which has since caused school authorities to raise concerns and alarm for quick redress.

Supervisors and some school authorities in order not to garner political and media attention resulted to seek the expertise of a private electrician who drew power illegally and restored power creating ease and enabling environment for the students.

The electricity company of Ghana is yet to restore its power at the school and there is a high possibility of the final year students writing core mathematics tomorrow, Wednesday, in the darkness if concrete action is not taken to avert the issue.
