Accra Academy has handed over a student to the police following the emergence of a viral video showing bullying involving three Form Three boys and a Form One student.
The school’s management confirmed that the incident occurred on 17 January 2024 but only came to their attention after the video began circulating on social media.
In a statement addressing concerns over the footage, which appeared to show a student flogging a colleague with a cutlass, the school assured parents and guardians that swift action had been taken.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the student seen wielding a cutlass in the video brought the weapon from home.
In a statement, the school identified all students involved and contacted their parents. The perpetrators, all day students, have been instructed to stay away from school pending further investigations by the disciplinary committee.
The alleged perpetrators include Shadad Aliu (also known as Kester), Haleem Jibril (Chopper), Ahmed Dauda (Foreigner), and Richard Ninsin (Poisonous). The victims have also been identified and interviewed.
The school emphasised its commitment to addressing the situation thoroughly and assured stakeholders of updates on the ongoing investigations.
