Achievers Ghana celebrates Tariq Lamptey’s support for girls in tech

By: Nana Kwame Bediako

In a remarkable gesture aimed at empowering young girls in Ghana, Tariq Lamptey, Black Stars and Brighton Defender, has donated valuable VEX Robotics kits to Achievers Ghana, an organisation dedicated to promoting technology among girls.

The donation is part of the Tariq Lamptey Foundation’s ongoing efforts to support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education in Ghana.

This significant contribution is expected to provide numerous opportunities for girls to engage with and excel in the field of technology.

The VEX Robotics kits, known for their advanced and versatile components, are designed to foster innovation and creativity among students. By incorporating these kits into their curriculum, Achievers Ghana can offer hands-on experience with robotics, allowing girls to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The initiative not only aims to boost their confidence but also to inspire them to pursue careers in technology-related fields, which are often underrepresented by women.

Tariq Lamptey’s involvement with the project underscores his commitment to giving back to his roots and promoting education in his home country.

The Brighton and Ghana defender has always been a strong advocate for education and believes that technology is a powerful tool for change. Through his foundation, Lamptey aims to bridge the gender gap in technology and provide equal opportunities for all, regardless of their background.

The donation has been met with enthusiasm and gratitude from the Achievers Ghana community. Educators and students alike are excited about the new possibilities that the VEX robotics kits bring. The kits will allow the girls to participate in national and international robotics competitions, further enhancing their learning experience and exposing them to a global community of innovators.

This initiative by Tariq Lamptey and his foundation is a significant step towards empowering girls in Ghana through technology. By providing access to advanced educational tools, Lamptey is helping to pave the way for a more inclusive and technologically adept future.
