Professor Amin Alhassan speaks at 20th Congregation of Islamic University College

The Director General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Prof Amin Alhassan, is urging Universities to collaborate with industry in curriculum design. Speaking at the 20th congregation of the Islamic University College, Ghana, Professor Alhassan emphasised the importance of integrating industry insights to ensure that graduates are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in a rapidly evolving landscape.

The Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Prof Amin Alhassan, challenged both the graduates and matriculants to lead in the thought for answers to the moral questions that AI engenders.

The ceremony saw a total of 181 students, comprising 76 males and 105 females, graduating from the Islamic University’s 20th congregation, with 183 individuals matriculating. Within this graduating class, 5 students were not Muslims, highlighting the university’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and diversity within its student body. Among the programs offered at the university are BA Religious Studies, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bed Early Childhood Education, among others.

The President of the Islamic College, Dr. Hadi Kamal Ezzat, reaffirmed the institution’s stance as a beacon of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence. In light of the global challenges posed by extremist groups such as ISIS and Boko Haram, Dr Ezzat emphasised the importance of promoting desirable attitudes for peaceful coexistence.

Baani Abdul-Fatawu Azumah was the Valedictorian.

The best graduating students were honoured with a plaque and a cash prize of 500 cedis, and the overall best student was given a plaque and 5,000 cedis acknowledging their outstanding achievements and dedication to their studies.
