The Bolgatanga and Wa Polytechnics in the Upper East and Upper West Regions respectively have been elevated to the status of Technical Universities.
Parliament on April 3, amended the Technical Universities Act, Act 922, which effectively converted the Bolgatanga Polytechnic and Wa Polytechnic to Technical Universities.
The two were the only polytechnics left to be elevated to Technical University status.
