FWSC to meet CETAG next week over ongoing strike

The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has invited the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) to a meeting to address their concerns and resolve the ongoing strike.

The meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 19, 2024, at the Ministry of Employment and Labour.

CETAG embarked on a nationwide strike on June 14, 2024, citing the government’s failure to implement arbitral awards and other conditions of service for its members.

The strike has entered its second month, prompting calls for the closure of colleges of education.

However, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has clarified that no decision has been made to close the institutions.

FWSC, in a statement also invited key stakeholders to the meeting, including the President of CETAG, the Director-General of GTEC, the President of the Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF), the Director of Tertiary at the Ministry of Education, and the Head of the Public Financial Management Unit (CPMU) at the Ministry of Finance.
