Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Adutwum, has reiterated that the controversial history and English textbooks for basic schools which have contents stereotypical of Ewes have not been approved.
He said the agencies under the ministry are following up to ensure that the books are withdrawn from schools and bookshelves.
The Minister made the comment when he responded to an urgent question from MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on whether the said publications have come to the attention of the Ministry and steps being taken to purge schools and bookshops of offensive, divisive, and incendiary publications.
Going forward, the Minister said a bill will be introduced in Parliament, which when approved will give powers to NaCCA to sanction publishers of unapproved textbooks.
