Public Relations Officer of the Volta Regional Education Directorate, Forgive Yao Agoha, has said the Directorate was setting-up a committee to probe alleged diversion of free Senior High School foodstuff from the Peki Senior High School.
He said the Directorate would carry out the investigation with management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) Headquarters and that some persons had already been invited to the Head Office.
Mr Agoha who was speaking in an interview in Ho, said the Directorate having been hinted of the alleged diversion of foodstuff from the School to a private home of an internal auditor and their arrest, visited the Regional Police Headquarters on January 13, 2020, where the school Bursar, the lead internal auditor and the driver who was driving the vehicle at the time were put behind bars.
He said the visit was to enable the Directorate to get first-hand information on the issue.
Mr Agoha said the Directorate would ensure that those found culpable would be sanctioned, “using policy guidelines.”
On January 10, 2020, the Deputy Volta Regional Minister and a team of police personnel intercepted Peki Senior High School’s pick-up truck loaded with food items allegedly being driven to an auditor’s house in Ho as bribe.
The items included; gallons of cooking oil, bags of rice, bags of maize, cartons of milk, packs of Tom brown, packs of tomato paste.
The suspects were granted police inquiry bail.
