The Ministry of Education has denied reports that the government owes capitation payments to basic schools totaling 350 million cedis.
Speaking on ‘Behind the News,’ Deputy Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the Ministry, Opoku Mensah said it is not true that payments are in arrears for four terms, saying, it is only two terms and the figure currently stands at about GHC45 million.
Mr. Opoku Mensah said the Government has always ensured prompt payment of the Capitation Grant.
He attributed the arrears of the two terms to unforeseen circumstances.
