The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has shared his experience of seeing Ghanaians excel abroad.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Education U.S College Fair at the Movenpick Ambassador hotel on September 13, 2024, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum gave a warm welcome to educators and colleges from the United States and expressed his pride in Ghana’s educational talent, encouraging the smooth recruitment of Ghanaian students.

He highlighted the immense value that U.S. institutions will find in these students, emphasising the quality of education and character they possess.

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum also reflected on the opportunities America offers, recounting how it transformed his own mindset and opened up possibilities. He brought up a contrast between the rigid academic environment he experienced in Ghana and the supportive, success-oriented atmosphere he encountered in the U.S., where professors were dedicated to helping students excel.

He advised prospective students to actively participate in their academic journey, emphasizing the importance of asking questions and seeking help when needed. He underscored the significance of leadership skills in American universities, encouraging students to focus on their personal stories and experiences in their application essays, as these are just as important as academic achievements.

Finally, he commended U.S. universities for recognising Ghanaian talent, sharing his experience of seeing Ghanaian students excel abroad. He encouraged the young students to make the most of the opportunities in the U.S. and one day return to contribute to Ghana’s transformation, reinforcing the idea that great things are possible both in Ghana and abroad.
