Volta Regional Director of Education, Madam Enyonam Amafuga, has called on policy-makers to engage the youth in formulating educational sector policies to enable them to own it.
She said the youth have an indispensable role to play as major stakeholders in the realization of quality education delivery in Ghana and so their concerns must be factored when crafting educational policies.
Madam Amafuga said this at the 2019 International Youth Day Celebration in Ho, under the theme, “The Role of the Youth in Contributing to Quality Education in Ghana”.
She said the youth have the capacity to mobilize communities to provide physical infrastructure, teaching and learning materials to enhance education.
Madam Amafuga said in providing quality education, stakeholders must ensure the social, mental, physical and cognitive development of each student regardless of gender, ethnicity or geographical location.
The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa, said education is the driving force behind every country’s development, therefore without education, the country cannot progress.
He commended the National Youth Authority for its unflinching support in youth development and charged the youth not to despise humble beginnings.
