The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST has appointed Professor Mark Adom-Asamoah as the Acting Pro Vice Chancellor with immediate effect.
Prof. Adom-Asamoah, who is currently the Provost of the College of Engineering, one of the key colleges of the University, replaces Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson who was inducted as the first female Vice Chancellor last Saturday.
A statement issued and signed by the Registrar of the University, Kwasi Boateng noted that, Prof. Adom-Asamoah will act as the Pro VC until October this year when a substantive occupant will be elected. He is one of the most senior members of the University.
Prof. Akosua Dickson had held the Pro VC position since 2018 and was scheduled to hold it for two years but was last month elevated upon her selection among other applicants by the University Council to take over from the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kwasi Obiri Danso whose tenure effectively ended on the 31st of last month.
Administratively, the Pro VC is the next in the hierarchy after the VC on the structure of the University.
