The New Nation School located in Ashaley Botwe in the Adentan Municipality in Accra (NNS) on Saturday, the 15th of June, 2024 held its 10th graduation ceremony with a plea to graduates to be agents of goodwill and ambassadors of the school.
A total number of 113 graduating students made up of both Lower Secondary and the Upper Secondary were awarded various certificates.
The school is four schools in one: Nursery, Primary, Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary. Upper Secondary students are entered for IGCSE and A Level examinations administered by Cambridge International Education (CIE).
The Director of the NNS, Dr. John Kpikpi, speaking at the ceremony advised the graduating students to retool themselves in order to survive and progress in the world of work.
He charged them to uphold the institutional values as fresh alumni of NNS wherever they go in pursuit of higher education.
Dr. Kpikpi answering questions in an interview on the sidelines of the event on the lack of Critical Thinking Skills (CTS) among most Ghanaian students explained that their courses are designed specifically to inculcate CTS in students at the lowest levels.
“Our graduates have been highly recommended for their display of exceptional performance in their fields, because of the programs and training they were given while in the school,” he added.
On the issue of perceived high fees charged by owners of schools running international programs, Dr. Kpikpi said though that perception may be true or false, his school is the least charged among all the schools running international programs.
“Our fees are very very modest compared to others in the same space because our mission is to provide the best quality education, for children of every tribe and nation, in an environment of faith, hope and love. We have a special fee paying structure that allows every parent who wants to enroll their children into NNS to do so without any hindrance. We at NNS want every child everywhere to receive the best quality education thus our lowest fees charged coupled with the flexible terms compared to others,” the Director of the NNS reiterated.
Meanwhile, the special guest speaker, Dr. Samuel Sarpong Ankrah speaking at the session advised the graduating students to find purpose and channel their passion into whatever they find themselves doing to find fulfillment.
He also admonished them to be generational thinkers. “You’re going out there at the time the country is lacking generational thinkers. Go out there with the quality sets of skills you have acquired.
There is a need for a paradigm shift in the way we approach governance and businesses of the state and I believe you have the ability to make that transition happen,” he added.
