About two hundred classroom furniture supplied by the government under the gallop programme are rotting away at Nasuan in the Yunyoo District of the North East region whilst school children sit on the floor for studies.
Sources at the District Education Office say the Furniture were supplied nearly three months ago, but have been left in the open at the mercy of the weather.
“The assembly said they want to procure seven hundred more to add to this one before distribution,” a source revealed.
Majority of the over sixty basic schools in the area, are without furniture.
The development according to residents is negatively affecting teaching and learning.
The District Chief Executive and the Coordinating Director were not immediately available for comments.
