Old Student of Mawuli School donates Sports Kits to Alma-Mater

An old student of Mawuli School in Ho, the Volta Regional capital, David Dartey has donated sports kits to the school’s football team. The sports kits which consist of a set of football jerseys and footballs are geared towards enhancing sporting activities at the school.

Mr. Dartey who is the Volta/Oti Zonal Manager of the National Communications Authority (NCA) expressed the hope that the donation will boost the morale of the school’s football team as they prepare for their inter-school sports competition.

At a brief ceremony to present the sports kits, he disclosed that he was displeased to see the school’s football team don an unattractive jersey during the last inter-school competitions, a development which motivated his gesture. Mr. Dartey said Mawuli School has had a positive impact on his accomplishments in life hence his resolve to give back to his alma mater.

Mr. Dartey told the students that the School has produced several human resources who are contributing to the development of the country in different sectors of the economy and that should inspire them to excel.

The Headmaster of the Mawuli School, Gustav Jonathan Adomah, who received the sports kits on behalf of the school’s management and students, lauded Mr. Dartey for the gesture. He said the donation is very timely since it will motivate the school’s football team as they prepare for this year’s inter-schools competition. He promised to ensure that the school’s team makes good use of the kits.

Mr. Dartey later visited the school’s football, volleyball, and handballs teams at their training grounds where he inspired them to always stay focus and work hard to emerge winners in the various sports disciplines during the inter-schools competition. He bemoaned that Mawuli School has in recent times lost its credibility as winners of various sports disciplines in inter-school competitions and challenged the schools various sports teams to give up their best to win more laurels to change the trend.

“Talents like Emmanuel Adzogu, Sani Wahab and William Gbedzeke who played for Accra Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League were students of Mawuli School discovered during inter-schools competitions, so I urge all of you to go into the competition with team spirit and zeal to win and who knows, probably some of you who would like to pursue carrier in sports might be scouted during sporting events”, Mr Dartey said.

The captain of the School’s football team, Cyril Fafa Mawutor gave Mr. Dartey assurance that, the various teams will work hard to win trophies for the school. “We appreciate your donation and words of encouragement and we can assure you that we would not disappoint you and the school during the upcoming inter-schools competition”, he said.

Mr. Dartey has promised to provide the school teams with bags of sachet water when the inter-school competition begins. He is a member of the 1996 year group of Mawuli School.
