Presenting the furniture, the president of the ‘94 year group, Mr. Elias Dey said he is confident the donation will bolster and give hope to the student to become iconic individuals in and out of school.
Mr. Dey advised the students to take their studies seriously because the ‘94 year group have many accomplished members in the society therefore they must be inspired to emulate them.
“Today we are here as OMSU 94s to donate 100 benches to our cherished Alma mater, this is going to be the first of a series of projects we have lined up for Mawuli School. Mawuli School is the pride of Volta and the nation.” Mr. Dey said.
“We are proud of our Alma mater we want to give our moral support that you have old folks behind you.”
“Some of our mates are seasoned Bankers, Engineers, and well-accomplished people in society, we expect you to go higher than where we are.”
“We had a call that you guys stand to have breakfast and lunch and that can not continue, we’ll encourage the headmaster to keep giving out his best so you can become iconic members of society” he added.
The Headmaster of Mawuli School, Gustav Jonathan Adomah, who received the furniture on behalf of the school’s management and students commended the ‘94s Year Group for the kind gesture.
He said the donation was timely because the school had appealed for 500 benches but has received 120 benches from the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) and 50 benches from an old student who completed in the year 2000.
Mr. Adomah added that the donation will go a long to inspire the students.
He said the student are disciplined and doing well in their academic work as plans are far advance towards a good performance in the upcoming National Science and Math’s Quiz later in October.
“On behalf of the management and students, we want to say thank you so much for the timely donation for these benches, we requested 500 benches to take care of the dining hall and the other hall because anytime we are moving we have to move all our classroom chairs and it keeps breaking so far we have received 120 benches from PTA and 50 from an old student, Elsie Apaw.”
“There is still a gap to fill. We continue to appeal to people to fill the gap. We will do our best to raise higher the image of Mawuli School” he added.
A student, Master Azah-Quashie Bless expressed gratitude on behalf of the student body to the ‘94s Year Group, he reiterated that the donation was timeous. He promised that the furniture will be put to good use.
He also mentioned water and electricity as challenges confronting student boarders on campus and appealed to other year groups to support the school.
“We thank OMSU’ 94s for this wonderful donation, as our headmaster said it is timely. It came at the right time when we are in dire need of benches for the dining and assembly halls.”
“We don’t have water in some houses of the school, students have to trek to other distances to get water far from the house it makes them late for class. The lighting systems in some of the houses are faulty we don’t have enough sockets there is always pressure on the resources on days that we have social gatherings. We promise to take good care of them so that more will be added” he said.
