Of the 350 Kindergarten blocks Government is constructing across the country, 160 have been completed. A number of dilapidated kindergarten blocks are also being renovated.

President Akufo-Addo who announced this at the inauguration of the Kwabenya Model KG in the Ga East Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, said the Arab Fund is also building new Kindergarten schools, in some selected regions.

Integrating ICT into the curriculum of children at kindergarten level is the drive behind the new phase of early childhood development in public schools.

The introduction of ICT is expected to bring great relief to teachers and learners as well as change the interface of learning outcomes, making it more interactive and encourage children to be critical thinkers.

This is a departure from the old system which focused on repetition and memorization. Kwabenya Atomic public school is one of the beneficiaries of the Model kindergartens being built across the country.

President Akufo-Addo said education is the greatest equalizer, saying the inclusion of ICT right from kindergarten level, will enable the child to be innovative and practical oriented.

BSW, the contractors for the model kindergarten projects, is poised to bringing technology and best practices into Ghana’s education system.
