The Catholic Bishop of Jasikan Diocese, Most Rev. Gabriel Mante has encouraged leaders of Ghana to emulate the J.E.A Mills approach to governance and politics. He said, even though Professor. Mills quest to create a better Ghana for all, was cut short, his leadership style remains outstanding.

He said, ”it is necessary to remember and instill the late President’s legacy in future generations for nation-building”.

Most Reverend Mante was Speaking at the John Evans Attah Mills Memorial Lecture held at the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ho.

The Volta/Oti Lecture is part of a series of Lectures being held across the country to commemorate the 10-year Anniversary of the demise of the late President, Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills.

It was organized by the Local Organizing Committee and the Governing Board of the J.E.A Mills Memorial Heritage on the theme: The man John Evans Atta Mills– Ten years on.

The Late President J.E.A Mills died on July 24, 2012 at age 68.

The Catholic Bishop of Jasikan Diocese, Most Rev. Gabriel Mante urged leaders and the public to adopt the character traits of the late Professor Mills, which include integrity, honesty, transparency, inclusiveness and accountability.

The Foundation Vice-Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Prof. Fred Newton Binka urged Ghanaians to imbibe the values and principles of the late President for a better Ghana.

He called on the government to name UHAS, the Professor John Evans Atta Mills University of Health and Allied Sciences.

“Finally, I call on the government during this 10th-Anniversary celebration of the passing of our visionary leader to rename the University as the John Evans Atta Mills University of Health and Allied Sciences” he said.

The event was chaired by the Paramount Chief of Likpe Traditional Area, Nana Soglo Allo. Other speakers include, Vice-Chancellor of UHAS, Prof. Lydia Aziato, Vice President of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of the Association of Ghana Industries, Dr. Grace Amey Obeng. A book titled: “Atta Mills Speaks” which contains a compilation of all the State of the Nation addresses and speeches delivered by the late President was launched at the event to preserve the heritage and legacy of the late president.
