The Ghana Education Service (GES), has moved the re-opening of schools for third year Senior High School students, from Monday, August 19 to Sunday, August 25.
Form 3 students are now to report for the 1st Semester of the 2019/2020 academic year, on Sunday August 25 for academic work to begin on Monday, August 26.
A statement issued and signed by the Director General of the GES, Professor Kwasi Opoku Amankwa, said the new date was arrived at, after a joint meeting of stakeholders involving management of the GES, Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), Association of Principals of Technical Institutions (APTI), and the Labour Unions in the Pre-Tertiary Education Sector.
It explained, that it is anticipated, that the new date would enable parents and students, teachers and education workers, prepare adequately for the re-opening of the new academic year.
Meanwhile, the various stakeholders, are expected to use the period of the shift, to hold further consultations on how to make the re-opening and Management of the schools, as smooth as possible.
The statement urges all staff, students and the public, to take note of the new development.
