School selection for BECE Candidates is to commence November 29 and end December 14, 2021.
Ahead of the opening of the School Placement Portals, the Ghana Education Service has announced an increase in the number of schools that Candidates can choose from.
The Service has also added 139 Technical Schools to the list of Senior High Schools for Candidates to make their selections. These are part of the new guidelines introduced by the Ghana Education Service, to ensure a smooth process.
Head of Public Relations at the Service, Cassandra Twum Ampofo told Nathaniel Nartey that the Service has commenced sensitization workshops in all districts across the country to explain these guidelines to parents and Candidates to have better understanding of the process.
She encouraged parents to take keen interest in the workshops.
“The sensitization drive, we do it all the time….and this year we are using all the platforms to get out audience to understand the new guidelines we put out because we review them every year….for this year we have increased the number of schools a Candidate can choose to 6, last year it was 5. We have also added 139 Technical Schools from the 9 agencies so now with this new addition, they are also going to enjoy the Free SHS. We also have categories A, B and C that they can choose from”.
Commenting on the ongoing vaccination for minors in Schools, Madam Twum Ampofo said parents will be given consent forms to fill as part of the process to exempt those who do not want their children to take the vaccine.
”We sent a letter to our Regional Directors to inform them that the GHS has approval to vaccinate. Our 15 year olds in the schools……we have given out consent forms so parents who sign them and give permission for their wards to get the vaccine will go ahead and get it”, she noted.
