GBC’s Radio Ghana checks at some Basic Schools in Osu, Adabraka, Nima and Kanda in revealed that teachers are back to the classrooms following a court order secured by the National Labour Commission compelling them to dis-continue their industrial action.

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) on December 5, 2019, declared a strike after a series of what they called, failed engagements with the government on Legacy Arrears accrued between 2012 and 2016.

Our Correspondent, Nana Ama Omari reports that when the news team got to the Gray Memorial and Calvary Methodist “2” Basic Schools at Adabraka, JHS students were seen writing their end of term examination supervised by their teachers. Some primary school pupils were also seen learning.

However, teachers including the Circuit Supervisor refused to comment on the issue. At the Presby Cluster of Schools at Osu, the story was not different. Teachers were seen in classrooms with JHS students taking their end of term examination, while some primary pupils played on the school compound.

When asked to comment on the order to return to the classroom, some of the teachers said they do not have the mandate to comment.

At the Kanda Cluster of Schools specifically Kanda AMA Basic School and Ring Road East, JHS students were seen writing their end of term examination with teachers supervising them.
