The Head Teacher of Tefle D/A Junior High School at Sogakope in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region, Rev. Nicholas Nuworkpor has called on the old students of the school and other stakeholders to come to their aid.

According to him, the school lacks basic tools and materials needed for effective and efficient teaching and learning since the school is at the Centre of the Circuit and Basic Education Certificate Examinations are held on the premises of the school.

“This calls for an office for the School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) which needs office materials like tables and chairs, furnishing, carpet, computer, printer etc. The room for the office is already in place” he added.

Speaking at the commissioning of washrooms built by Melcom Group of Companies under their philanthropic arm — Melcom Care Foundation on November 4, 2020 at Tefle, the Head Teacher Rev. Nicholas Nuworkpor, said the school has “a well-fortified Computer Laboratory with tables and chairs, electricity and fittings, all in place.”

However, the five (5) laptops provided by the government and two tabletop computers have all broken down with only one laptop functioning.”

This he stated has created “a situation of 381 pupils to one computer, which is woefully inadequate. This is making the teaching and learning of ICT very difficult. I want to use this occasion to appeal to Old Students and all who love to see a generation of well-educated people to come to our aid.”

The school was established in 1951 with quite a number of pupils and currently, the school is a three (3) stream Junior High School with a total population of 381 pupils; 193 boys and 184 girls, ……“with the increasing number of pupils’ intake, the work of the School Improvement Support Officer’s work has become extremely important for the management and supervision of schools.”

On behalf of the pupils, teachers and the general public of Tefle, he thanked Melcom Care Foundation for the gesture.

Rev. Nuworkpor, mentioned that, the facility has come to make life better for both teachers and pupils.
