The University for Development Studies (UDS), has appointed Professor Seidu Alhassan as the new Chancellor of the University with effect from September 1st, 2022.
The appointment comes after an emergency meeting of the Governing Council.
The current Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gabriel Ayum Teye’s tenure of office ends in August 2022.
A Committee set up to get a suitable candidate for the post, presented Professor Felix Kofi Abagali and Professor Seidu Alhassan for consideration.
Over the last few days, there have been congratulatory messages to Professor Seidu Alhassan from various stakeholders for being appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the UDS.
The development generated a quiet storm on social media.
On Thursday, June 9th, 2022, a court placed an injunction on the appointment of a new VC due to some procedural breaches.
However, a statement signed by the Registrar of the University revealed that Professor Abagali, has withdrawn his candidature and therefore takes off all the controversies that led to the Court injunction.
