University of Environment and Sustainable Development to roll out 3rd School

The University of Environment and Sustainable Development, UESD, is to roll out a third school, the School of Built Environment in the 2022/2023 academic year. The school will offer three initial courses which are Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Architecture, Bachelor of Science in Urban Design and Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. The Vice Chancellor of UESD, Prof Eric Nyarko-Sampson announced this at the 2nd Matriculation at the University campus at Somanya in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region.

According to him the University will be the first to offer Bachelor of Science in Urban Design in the country and appealed for expansion of facilities in the school to accommodate the students. Prof Nyarko-Sampson noted that the University has a mission of producing graduates who are equipped with the relevant knowledge and skills to be well positioned as agents and partners in the identification and resolution of prevailing environmental and sustainable development for life’s challenges. He urged the matriculants to be adventurous, innovative and use their time in creative ventures and not join the unemployment graduate association after completion.

On behalf of the students, one of the matriculants, Kelvin Tetteh, promised to maximize all opportunity opened to them to contribute to the development of the nation. He however called for improvement in the existing facilities in the school. In all 192 students were matriculated into the two schools of the University. One hundred and seven into the school of Natural and Environmental Sciences and 85 to the school of Sustainable Development.
