UTAG finally suspends six-week-old strike

The National Executive Committee, NEC of the University Teachers Association of Ghana, UTAG has resolved to suspend its strike. A Facebook post by the Secretary of the University of Ghana Chapter of UTAG, Professor Ransford Gyampo however noted that per UTAG’s Constitution, members of the Association have five days within which to vote to reject or accept the decision of the NEC.

UTAG has been on strike since January 10, 2022 to force the government to restore the Conditions of Service agreed in 2012. An injunction was however placed on the strike after an appeal by the National Labour Commission. The Court has on two occasions ordered both parties to adopt an Out-of-Court settlement.
