The First Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Hajia Hamdatu Ibrahim has stated that she was not happy when she first heard that Ghana Labour Commission(NLC) has taken the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) to Court on their strike.
Speaking on the directive by the Accra Circuit Court for the NLC and UTAG to consider settling the case out of Court, Hajia Hamdatu said there would have been no peace if the Court had gone ahead with a verdict in the case.
“I was not happy when they went to Court. I wasn’t happy at all because if the court has taken the matter or maybe they would be able to solve it through Court by all means there will be a looser and then we won’t have peace when it comes to our lectures.”, she noted.
Hajia Hamdatu added that, she was not happy about the case being sent to Court because the academic calendar could be extended which will affect Parents and Students.
” You want to pay for the hostel of your ward and then he or she is just there which means if there is an extension then you would have to pay more and you know the situation, we find ourselves as a country, it’s difficult for parents”, she added.
She however stated that she prays and hope the NLC and UTAG meet to settle this issue on a middle ground.
“For me it is the call in the right direction by the Judge that they should go and resolve it in their meeting on Monday and we are praying and hoping that something positive will come out from their meeting and then we will all give glory to God”, she added.
